Memorial Day Ride San Diego
MONDAY, May 29, 2017, ANNUAL MEMORIAL DAY "CITY CRUISE" RIDE starting at 8:00 A.M.

A number of us are planning to do our Annual Memorial Day "City Cruise" ride, which will depart from the STARBUCKS AT VIRGINA WAY AND TORREY PINES ROAD (1055 Torrey Pines Road) in La Jolla on Monday, May 29, 2017, at 8:00 A.M.  The ride will take us Through PB, MB, and on to OB, then out to the Point Loma gate (Note: we can’t go beyond the gate; the point is closed to cyclists on Memorial Day.) where we will turn back on Catalina and head Downtown along Harbor Drive, doing a loop on Shelter Island, and continuing south along the bay, then through downtown and on to Hillcrest where we will stop for coffee at Peet's, then on to Mission Hills, then down to Mission Bay, possibly doing a loop around Fiesta Island, and then back to Starbucks via Soledad Mountain Road, around the Cross, and down Nautilus. The ride will be about 45 miles with some short steep climbs and should easily have us back in La Jolla between Noon and 1:00 P.M.. Be sure to wear your most patriotic kit; riders will stop on Shelter Island and vote for the “Most Patriotic Kit,” and the winner will receive a fabulous prize. The pace will be moderate. The weather is forecast to be partly cloudy with temperatures between 60F and 70F---Perfect!. The goal of the ride is threefold: (1) to see some beautiful parts of the city, (2) to get a decent workout with friends, and (3) most important, to remind us of why we spend most of the time riding in the eastern portion of the county! I hope you can join us for a relaxed scenic ride. No need to RSVP, just show up. Feel free to invite others to join the ride.
